Final Project Outcome
This is a poster on my senior project that I presented at SUNY Oneonta's Student Research and Creative Activity Showcase
What I did
I noticed that students have a hard time knowing what materials are recyclable. I developed an initiative to enhance recycling on campus by identifying gaps in recycling knowledge, conducting waste audits, and creating educational materials to improve sustainable waste practices. I made a plan of initiates for the Office of Sustainability to implement to make recycling easier and more effective for everyone.
What I learned
Through this project, I learned how to design and implement a sustainability initiative from start to finish, how to analyze data to drive behavior change, and how important clear communication and education are for making environmental programs successful. I also learned that recycling needs to be introduced more and normalized in younger students so that they grow up with the habits instilled.
