This research dives into the opinions of 5 SUNY Oneonta students on campus and their opinions on Artificial Intelligence in Education & Society. Through Qualitative and Quantitative Data Analysis, I was able to see various patterns that students had regarding their concerns and beliefs.
Final Project Outcome
This research poster was presented at SUNY Oneonta's Student Research and Creative Activity Showcase showcasing the results from my research.
What I did
In order to get opinions of the campus, I began by asking my friends to fill out a survey and participate in an interview where they will express their opinions about various topics such as environmental issues, mental health, policy, etc. When conducting these interviews, I had a professional setup with microphones and a voice recorder that uses AI to summarize and find patterns within the discussions, providing great help in my data analysis process. After having all the students fill out the surveys and interviewing them, I compared the responses in the surveys and interviews to for similarities and differences.
What I learned
I learned that the process to conduct a project that requires the insight of multiple individuals takes time and coordination to get thorough details. On a larger scale, AI has many positive and negatives that stir up controversy. When determining the sacrifices that should be made when creating such technologies, it is important to see how they balance and how much they benefit.
What’s next for me
In the future, I want to conduct a larger scale project when I have the time to do so. What made this project more difficult then it should have were my classes and employment, making it difficult to balance. In addition, finding availability amongst faculty and staff and students is very difficult as everyone has their own schedules that conflict with mine. My goal is to conduct a large Data Analysis project to help Faculty, Students, and Staff to come to a consensus on issues and opinions regarding Artificial Intelligence.
