Inclusive Design Lab Internship
Final Project Outcome
We presented this poster at the SRCA showcase to display our work on the SUNY Oneonta OpenLab.
What I did
I interned at the Inclusive Design lab, where I helped create the Red Dragon Portfolio Theme, the ePortfolio Gallery, and more on SUNY Oneonta's OpenLab. I also visited classrooms for hands-on student workshops, and displayed our OpenLab work as a team at SRCA. We also worked to make sure all of the new additions to the site were accessible to all users and complied with ADA guidelines.
What I learned
I didn't have the best web literacy before joining this internship, and I've learned a lot about the behind-the-scenes parts of website building. I got a lot of personal experience in navigating and working in WordPress, as well as being in a team-based work environment. I also greatly improved my presentation skills thanks to the many opportunities I was given to practice and speak with other students and faculty.
What’s next for me
I'm graduating next week, and plan to take everything I learned with me for my future career. I made a lot of great connections and learned a lot of new skills in web design during my time at the Inclusive Design Lab, and I'm hoping to carry that momentum forward for wherever I go next.
