I am currently a Ralph Watkins research fellow and I am conducting a literature review on immigration caused by droughts in Mexico.
Final Project Outcome
This research presentation was presented at SUNY Oneonta’s Student Research and Creative Activity (SRCA) Showcase on April 16th, 2025.
What I did
For this project I worked closely with two professors from the Africana and Latinx Studies department. We started by brainstorming our project ideas and research questions. I eventually settled on the research question of how have droughts that are driven by climate change affect immigration patterns in Mexico? I read research on this topic to create an annotated bibliography. After some more research I started to write my literature review and presented it at the SRCA.
What I learned
I have learned a lot from doing this project. I was able to complete structured research under the mentorship of professional researchers which will help me for the rest of my academic and future career. I was also able to learn how to manage my time better to be able to complete my research, this will also help me in my future career.
