About me

I am a local who is currently a sophomore at SUNY Oneonta, majoring in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science.

As for my character, I would describe myself as an ambitious individual with a desire to create prosperity not only for my family, but also for the communities around me. This in large part is thanks to the opportunities I have had during my academic and professional journey. Overall learning to view challenges and failures as opportunities for growth, helping me become more resilient and determined to reach greater heights.

Furthermore, I have been fortunate to gain valuable experience from two AI research opportunities, including a current research position beginning this semester. In addition, I have had the honor of helping out with numerous volunteer opportunities, participated in a speech competition, worked consistently since high school, and currently serve as a student employee with SUNY Oneonta's ITS Desktop Support team.

Subsequently, I feel well positioned to embark on this experience and serve in a role where my passion for supporting and mentoring others can be the focal point.

Why I serve

I was inspired to apply to the Empire State Service Corps because service has been a consistent part of my personal, academic, and professional development. Through mentoring programs such as Link Crew and CFES, I discovered how impactful guidance and support can be in helping others overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Seeing the positive difference that even small acts of service can make motivated me to seek additional opportunities to contribute to my community.

Additionally, as a Mathematics major and Computer Science minor, I enjoy using analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to help others. My experiences in AI research and IT support have shown me the importance of combining technical knowledge with effective communication and teamwork. Whether assisting students with technology issues, mentoring younger peers, or collaborating on research projects, I have developed a strong appreciation for serving others and creating positive outcomes.

The Empire State Service Corps aligns with my goal of making a meaningful impact while continuing to grow as a leader. I believe that success is most rewarding when it creates opportunities for others, and I am eager to contribute my skills, work ethic, and dedication to supporting fellow students and strengthening my community. Through this program, I hope to expand my ability to serve others while helping build a future where more people have the resources and support needed to thrive.
